Skilled Database Engineer (DBE) with expertise in AWS RDS Aurora PostgreSQL to design, develop, and optimize database structures and ETL pipelines. This role involves creating efficient and scalable database schemas, optimizing performance, and integrating data across multiple systems. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in PostgreSQL, cloud-native database solutions, and ETL/data pipeline integrations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Database Engineering: Design, implement, and maintain database schemas, indexes, partitions, and optimization strategies for efficient data storage and retrieval.
  • ETL & Data Integration: Design and implement ETL pipelines to facilitate seamless data flow between the centralized database and various internal systems.
  • Performance Optimization: Analyze and optimize SQL queries, indexes, and schema designs for improved efficiency and scalability.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with data engineers, application developers, and DevOps teams to facilitate direct database connections and integration solutions.
  • Automation & Monitoring: Utilize AWS-native tools and third-party solutions for proactive database monitoring, alerting, and automation.
  • Documentation: Maintain up-to-date documentation for database structures, ETL processes, and best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in Database Engineering, with at least 3 years working with PostgreSQL (preferably AWS RDS Aurora PostgreSQL) Database Expertise: Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimisation, and indexing strategies.
  • Cloud & AWS: Hands-on experience with AWS RDS, Aurora, IAM, S3, Lambda, Glue, and CloudWatch for database and data pipeline management.
  • ETL & Data Pipelines: Experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines using tools like AWS Glue, Apache Airflow, or custom scripts.
  • Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in SQL, Python, or Terraform AWS CDK for database automation and infrastructure as code.
  • Problem Solving: Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in large-scale database environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases and hybrid database architectures.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for database management.
  • AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database – Specialty, AWS Solutions Architect – Associate).
