A leading company in the energy industry that is dedicated to providing sustainable technologies and services to improve the efficiency and sustainability of operations is currently looking for a talented Senior System Administrator.
The Senior System Administrator provides design and support for the global data, collaboration, and video infrastructure. Design includes research, definition, configuration, testing and implementation of various technologies and solutions. Support is provided to all lines of business for both internal and external network requirements. Employee works independently on major, complex projects with full competency. Employee coordinates with both technical and non-technical staff and vendors on integrated voice and data applications. Will also provide guidance and training to junior staff.

Job Functions

  • Resolves complex networking problems with full competency requiring no supervision
  • Produce network design documents both High-Level Designs (HLD) & Low-Level Designs (LLDs) in accordance with the approved network design architecture
  • Provides required documentation and participates in architecture reviews to ensure that the solutions comply with industry standards and use approved technologies
  • Develops, updates and audits network documentation.
  • Technology roadmap development, management, and maintenance
  • Documenting and updating all network infrastructure and supported business processes
  • Provides technical training and direction to team members. Mentors lower-level network engineers
  • Participates in long-term network design discussions
  • Ability to understand a customer’s business needs and translate needs into IT specific requirements
  • Makes recommendations clearly linked to the organization’s strategy and financial goals, reflecting an awareness of external dynamics
  • Demonstrates awareness by providing clear explanations for actions taken relative to customer requirements, needs and industry trends
  • Identifies the ongoing needs of internal and/or external clients. Ensures these needs are met or exceeded
  • Applies quality assurance testing concepts and methodologies. Constructs comprehensive test plans based on a thorough understanding of business requirements
  • Anticipates, identifies, and defines problems. Seeks root causes. Develops and implements practical and timely solutions
  • Places team needs and priorities above personal needs. Involves others in making decisions that affect them

Expectations

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the capacity of a Senior System Administrator in a global Enterprise network
  • Current CCNP
  • Must be extremely proficient and experienced on:
  • Cisco routing and switching
  • On-Prem and Cloud Data Center architecture and services
  • Microsoft Teams administration, features and troubleshooting
  • Experience with VoIP migrations – Cisco CUCM to MS Teams, other.
  • VoIP protocols, switching, security and PSTN interfaces
  • Experience with Session Border Controllers (SBC’s)
  • IP phones, video endpoints, and WebEx/Teams soft clients
  • Collaboration Edge systems
  • Solid knowledge of network monitoring tools and utilities – Solarwinds preferred
  • Additional Preferred Skillsets:
  • WebEx Meetings, WebEx App, and WebEx Room Kits
  • Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)
  • Cisco Unity Connection (CUC)
  • Cisco Unified Computing Server (UCS) technologies
  • VMware
  • Must be proficient in creating network documentation with MS Visio
  • Must be proficient with all standard Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/PowerPoint minimum)
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal skills in English to ensure a safe work environment and successful operation of the employers’ business
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, responsiveness and creativity, flexibility, ability to plan and organize
  • Great organizational, time-management and problem-solving skills
  • Prioritizes workload, meets deadlines, and manages competing priorities under pressure
  • Able to work in fast paced environment
  • Works well independently and within a team
  • Willingness to work in a rotational 24×7 support operation and handle on-call duties as needed
